I'm apologizing now for my Crafts page being so neglected! I have photos of things to put up on my page, but I want to do something different with it. Sort of how I redesigned my main page. I've been so obsessed about getting projects done that my website is falling by the wayside. Not only has my crafts page been neglected, the rest of my site is suffering to the point that I'm starting to think it all looks bad. Maybe on my days off I should have worked on my website instead of knitting. I think in the evenings, I should come home and instead of knitting for an hour, I should work on my website. If only it were that easy. I think I should get a skeleton format designed and then go from there. I don't know what to do. It's really bothering me because I know it could be really cool, but it's not.
The neglect started about the time that I decided to divide everything into manageable folders. Plus, there is so much stuff on my site that I don't even know what's out there part of the time.
It's cold here in Chicago! I hope if it's cold where you are that you're staying warm. It's times like this I miss having a fireplace. Wednesday it was in the low 50s, even though the temperature said it felt like mid-40s, but it was still a nice break from the bitter cold. Today, it's bitterly cold and tonight it's supposed to be a low of 5 degrees! That's really freaking cold! I don't mind the winter, I just want it to be in the 30s. I can handle that because I can still wear sweaters, turtlenecks and knee socks and not be too hot or too cold. No wind, please! I like my winter clothes better, I feel cuter in them than I do my summer clothes.
New Year's Eve was the night of sick boys. Bryan was home sick and Toby was home sick too. So it was just Susan, Brandi and I. We had a good time, though. I cooked dinner - miso soup, kidney bean casserole with brown rice and poached pears with carob sauce for dessert. It was a pretty easy meal to cook.
I took off work on January 2 and 3. It was really nice to sleep in and knit most of the day. Thursday, I took Susan to the airport and then came home, reorganized my bookcases and then knit most of the afternoon. Thursday night I went to Knit Night. Friday, I slept late, watched Days of Our Lives, then went to the knitting store and hung out most of the afternoon. It was a relaxing few days. Saturday, Bryan and I went to Racine and Kenosha, Wisconsin. We had lunch with his friend, Rachel, and her fiance Brian. Across the street from where we had lunch was a yarn store called Barbara's On Main. It was a small shop but it was cute and she had some nice yarns. Saturday night, Bryan and I went to dinner at Giordano's and then went to see a movie. We were going to see "Chicago" but it was sold out. A couple of the other movies we also wanted to see were sold out, so we saw "Two Weeks Notice." It was a cute movie. It was a good romantic comedy.
I donated a bunch of furniture to Children's Hospital's charity resale shop and so my apartment has been a bit messy since I have no end tables at the moment. One of my lamps is sitting on a step-stool. :) Next weekend, I'm going to IKEA and I'm going to buy three end tables for my living room.
It felt so great to get rid of some of the crap that I've had sitting around my house for a while. I bought a new dresser in February that I painted and then in August, I bought matching nightstands and painted those. I'd had my old dresser and nightstand in my bedroom for what seemed like forever. Now they are gone and it feels so great to be rid of them! I have room in my bedroom!
Have a good weekend!
