Well, the holidays are almost over! I'm somewhat relieved. I'm going to miss all of the time off for the holidays because after January 6, then it will be back to seriousness for life in general. Work will get more serious than it was through November and December, which is fine to an extent.
I had a birthday bash on my 29th birthday. It was fun! There were knitting friends-Debi, Mary and Jessica, Brandi, Toby, Meredith, Bryan and I. Brandi, Toby and Bryan cooked most of the meal. I was in a tizzy to get everything cleaned up by the time everyone got there, so I wasn't able to help out much in the kitchen. When I could help the guests started arriving. It was really nice to have Brandi taking control in the kitchen and making sure that everything came together. We had miso soup, tempeh stroganoff, bok choy with roasted pumpkin seeds. I made poached pears with carob sauce for dessert. I think the meal was a hit with everyone in attendance. Bryan, Meredith and I don't like mushrooms, but we liked the stroganoff. :)
I went to Kansas for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was nice to be home for the holidays. I hung out with my kitty, Milly a lot. She slept with me every night that I was home, she was so sweet. The days before Christmas I was "hiding out" in the upstairs bedroom working on Christmas gifts. I vowed last year not to do that this year and I still did. I am now vowing not to be working on Christmas gifts late at night on Christmas Eve. Maybe that can be my New Year's Resolution this year. :)
Bryan and I are still dating! :) We haven't seen each other a lot lately because our schedules have been so busy. I'm hoping that as the new year routine starts to set in that we'll see each other more. It's hard to see each other when we live an hour apart and he works two nights a week, usually Mondays and Tuesdays, then I teach two nights a week - Mondays and Wednesdays, I go to Knit Night on Thursday evenings and then that leaves us Friday and Saturdays to get together.
Susan is here for several days. She arrived on Sunday afternoon. Bryan had problems with his brakes and had to get them fixed immediately. I wasn't going to let him drive back to Wauconda with brake problems. It ended up that his brake pads had gone out.
I feel really bad that I have to work while Susan is here. Hopefully, tomorrow afternoon and Wednesday we can do something fun. Tonight, we're going to Jane's for dinner, a favorite restaurant of ours.
I'm celebrating New Year's with Susan, Bryan, Brandi and Toby. We're cooking dinner and then hanging out at my place. :) Susan leaves on Thursday and I'm taking that day and Friday off. posted by ericaTuesday, December 31, 2002 []
