I've been home sick for the last two days! And I'm home sick again today. I have a bad cold and I really want to get well, so I'm taking it easy. The last time I had a cold, I stayed home the entire weekend and I felt so much better by Monday. I think I just need to take care of myself to get well. I also firmly believe that it's my body's way of saying "Take care of me!" I think I need to stop running on fumes.

Things are still going very well with Bryan. He's so SWEET, he drove all the way to the city to bring me soup last night. He also heated up the soup and made sure that I was doing okay before he left. What a sweetheart!!! :)

Last weekend, Meredith my sister and I went back to Kansas for a long weekend. Aunt Nan and Grandpa also came down to see us. It was so nice to be home for the weekend. I hadn't been home since Christmas last year. I hung out with Milly, my cat, for a while. She and I took a nap together on Saturday. She's still my baby kitty after 12 years. :) She's very spoiled, my mom has made sure that Milly and Lucy get everything their little kitty hearts desire, except live mice. :)

The trees outside my windows are beautiful. The small tree turned to a pinky-orange and is starting to lose most of its leaves on top. The larger tree has leaves that have red tips but it's mostly yellow and green with a few red tips scattered around. I'm sure it will be absolutely beautiful soon. :) I love this time of year, it's almost like you can breathe in the colors!

Enjoy the fall and pay attention to the beautiful colors around you, if you live in an area where the leaves change, they may surprise you.

IT'S FINALLY FRIDAY!! I've been in training at work for two days. It was not that exciting. I'm not going to be using Microsoft .NET (dot net) for a while, which is what the training was for. Only a few people in our department are using .NET right now. I'll be testing the applications, so I don't know if it will impact me at all, since my job is to play the user. :)

I downloaded Kristen Hersh's first Works In Progress from the Throwing Music website. The songs are really interesting, some are very cool to hear as demos. There are also several songs that aren't on albums.

I'm taking my sister Meredith to Peoria this weekend, so that she can take the LSAT. I'll probably just sit and read or knit tomorrow while she's taking the exam. I'm actually looking forward to having no obligations tomorrow morning. We're driving down to Peoria tonight and coming back tomorrow.

I put photos of Bryan and I on a photos page. They aren't the greatest photos ever, but they are photos. It was the best we could do with my digital camera and trying to take self portraits. I guess my arms just aren't long enough. :) So no comments please about how bad we look - we KNOW! :)

I hope everyone has a good weekend. I love the Fall! The leaves are starting to turn, it's cool and rainy and it puts me in the mood to just curl up with a warm blankie and read all day.

Currently reading: My Name is Asher Lev by Chaim Potok (started September 28, 2002)

Still listening to the same music as the last entry.

Have a great weekend! :)

Hi, all! Here's my new up to!

It's been more than a year and a month since I last wrote. A lot has happened in that year and a month.
I am still working at Allstate. I'm in a different position as a QA Tester/Analyst in Data & Technology in Research & Development in Product Operations. Complicated, I know.

I've been knitting like crazy in the last year - go to my crafts page to see what I've worked on. I also have several projects going right now that you can see on my current projects page. I've been teaching knitting two nights a week since July. I teach beginning knitting on Mondays and a project class on Wednesdays. I love seeing my beginning students progress so much in only six weeks. I'm also very impressed with how well my former beginning students do in my project classes. I've decided to pursue my love for teaching knitting more and put the master's program on hold for a while.

The kitties are very good. They are very goofy as usual. George has been more talkative than ever before.

I'm dating a new guy, his name is Bryan. He was referred to as "library boy" for a while between Susan and I. He's a librarian at the library in Mundelein, a suburb north of Chicago. He's a vegetarian, a major plus. He has a Master's in English from Miami-Ohio. We've already been to the Art Institute - we saw the Thorne Rooms, a lot of the Asian art and the Joseph Cornell collages. We went to see Kristen Hersh, Grant Lee Phillips and John Doe on Saturday, Sept. 28, they are doing a show called the Exile Follies, which is two or three of them for several songs, then they each get to play their own individual stuff. It was really cool. I was definitely introduced to Grant Lee Phillips. I had no idea he was so cool. They all were really great and quite funny together.

Currently reading: My Name Is Asher Lev by Chaim Potok

Currently listening to: Sparklehorse, Lisa Germano, Kristen Hersh (of course), A Camp (Nina Persson from The Cardigans)

Gotta go. Write me if I haven't heard from you in a while!

26 August, 2001

what am I up to now?
Things are good.

I've been at Allstate for over a year now. Wow, I've never worked anywhere for more than a year. :) Sad, in a way, but my excuse is I've been a student for seven of the nine years I've been out of high school.

I'm still knitting up a storm. I'm currently working on something for my friend, Holli, who is having a baby in October. I'm also starting on Christmas gifts. I recently finished a sleeveless sweater for myself. I'll be teaching another beginning knitting class in September. I've decided to take another type of creative class, I'm taking a sewing class starting in the middle of September. I have a really nice sewing machine and the extent of my sewing is hemming my pants. I would like to know more.

I start back at DePaul after Labor Day for my second class in my master's program. I'll be taking Java for Programmers.

George and Chloe have settled nicely into the new apartment. I think they like having more windows to look out. We're right along the street, so they get to watch the dogs walk by and the birds in the trees. Plus, they have more hiding places in the new apartment, the cat tower is still an old favorite for snoozing. :)

Well, as I always say, if I haven't heard from you lately. Please email me!

I'm reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling.
